Who we are

Born from the need for a fair price

Coopernovarum is a Fairtrade cooperative in Nova Resende, in southern Minas Gerais, Brazil, made up of small coffee-farming families.

Our story

A dream that began in 2011

Coopernovarum was founded out of the need to ensure that farmers would have the guarantee that their coffee would be marketed at a fair price. The dream began in 2011 and, like a seed planted in fertile soil, it grew and took shape.

After countless attempts and difficulties, the cooperative was formally established on 6 September 2018. Like every birth, it had its pains — paperwork, regulations and risks that could have decided the end or the beginning of our story. The group did not give up.

Today we are Fairtrade certified. The certification adds value to our coffee by establishing a minimum price at which it must be sold, and it is the pathway that takes our small farmers' coffee to the international market — bringing growth to rural communities, protecting the environment and caring for those who work the land.
